Join us in celebrating National Autism Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness of autism spectrum disorders while celebrating the lives of individuals living with autism, their families, and the professionals who work with them.
We hope you’ll join us in the celebration by pledging your support of the Burkhart Center, a state of the art facility with the mission to increase the quality of life for individuals with autism and their families by providing services, prepare educators, and conduct research.
All proceeds will fund programming at the Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research.
Sponsor three children to attend a Parent's Night Out event.
Sponsor one day of a 5 day social skills class for one child.
Sponsor one therapy session for an adult client to learn job skills.
This gift will fund supplies for one Transition Academy art project.
Sponsor one child to attend one of our 5-week social skills classes. Classes are offered for elementary, middle, and high school students.
Sponsor a child to attend one of our week-long summer camps. Camps are offered for elementary, middle, and high school students.
Sponsor one of our Parent’s Night Out events. These events provide respite care for up to 35 children with autism and their siblings at a time in a safe, social, fun environment staffed by Burkhart Center therapists and TTU student volunteers. The gift would fund games, activities, and snacks for the children as well as pizza and drinks for the volunteers.
Sponsor a social event or workshop for our college students. $500 would support bringing in a speaker to present to our college students on the spectrum about topics such as online safety, getting a job, building relationships, etc. for the 30 students in our CASE program. The same gift could support the planning and offering of a unique social opportunity for the students such as an evening reservation of the rock climbing wall at the TTU gym, a night at Main Event, bowling for the students, etc.
Sponsor an evening community training workshop. $1000 would support center staff to offer a high-quality 2-3 hour training session for up to 100 people to selected community groups. Examples of past evening workshops include training for day-care providers about setting up positive environments, free parent training to set up home routines, etc., targeted ASD awareness training for community groups such as churches or Rotary Clubs, etc. The training is designed to expose attendees to best-practices and give them concrete ideas to take away and use. This gift would allow that training to be offered at no cost to the group and would cover all expenses and provided resource materials.
