The Career Advancement Series Endowment
The Career Advancement Series Endowment provides the necessary resources for Texas Tech student-athletes to discover, prepare, implement and empower themselves in the focus area of career development. Contributions to the endowment impacts student-athletes by providing them with:
- Business Attire
- Personalized Stationary
- Career Exploration
- And much more
One of the many opportunities available to student-athletes through gifts to the Career Advancement Series Endowment is the Nationally Recognized Model Program, Suited for Success Career Series.
The J.T. and Margaret Talkington Leadership Academy was recognized as one of two national Model Practice Award winners this year for its work with the annual Suited for Success Career Series. Its work in student-athlete development, is one of two areas the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) presents this award to each year. Read more Here
The Suited for Success Career Series is a cornerstone of the J.T. & Margaret Talkington Leadership Academy as it focuses on training student-athletes in:
- Interview skills
- Individualized career assessments and counseling
- Resume building
- Etiquette training
- Networking skills
Throughout the year, Texas Tech connects successful local business leaders with student-athletes for networking, mock interviews, leadership training sessions, and much more.
Every student-athlete who completes the series hand-picks their own business attire to wear to a celebratory dinner, and which they get to keep as they enter into the business world. A select group of student-athletes will then have the opportunity to take their skills and business attire to Dallas, TX for the Tech Athletics Career Tour.
