Red Raider Readers is a program that supplies books to underserved children at their well child checks to help promote and support early literacy and development. Children coming in for visits from ages 6 months to 6 years are given a book to take home with them. This allows the parent to continue to support early literacy with their child at home. It also helps promote bonding between parent and child, as well as additional developmental skills. Red Raider Readers is an extension of Reach Out and Read. Red Raider Readers provides books that help promote and support diversity. It is important for children to see themselves reflected in stories to help foster a strong sense of identity. We supply books in both English and Spanish to our patients. We believe that early literacy skills are the foundation to future success.
Every dollar goes towards purchasing books for children. Please consider donating to this program that directly impacts children in Lubbock and the surrounding communities.
