TTRC has had two miniature horses in the program, named Lance and Gwen. The minis were great in helping new riders become comfortable around horses. The riders would get acclimated to the smaller horses before working with and riding TTRC's taller ones in the herd.
Big Peaches was a Belgian horse in the TTRC program, and her name was very fitting. She was 17 hands tall with a head that weighed 168 pounds! She was great with teaching riders how to groom and was definitely a gentle giant.
A paint horse named Charlie was one of the first horses that TTRC purchased in 2002! He also worked as a lesson horse with the TTU Equestrian Center and won many belt buckles for his riders.
Before coming to TTRC, Teddy, a POA horse was an all-around show horse from Arizona. Since coming to TTRC Teddy has helped many riders and his favorite activity outside of lessons is sunbathing.
TTRC has two haflingers in the program named Louie and Ahlaver. Louie assists with the equine counseling program, and Ahlaver helps with Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding. Both are handsome guys with beautiful blonde manes!
Bella was a 16yr old Arabian horse in the TTRC Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding program. She was our most petite horse due to her breed, so only our 2-4yr old riders rode her!
TTRC was fortunate to have two Gypsy Vanners in the program named Gypsy and Snowdrift. They were both gorgeous horses with kind dispositions and all of the riders loved them.
TTRC has had more than 100+ Quarter horses in the program in the last 22 years! Quarter horses have a wonderful disposition for the TTRC program. Most of our quarter horses at TTRC previously worked on ranches prior to assisting in Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding!
TTRC has been blessed to have 4 fjords in the program. Fjords typically have a shorter stature and extremely kind disposition. They also have concussive movement which has proven to be extremely successful in Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding.
